TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certificate Course introduces participants to modern teaching methods.

The main content of the course focuses on methods and techniques to help language learners communicate and uses practical, hands-on instruction to help participants become teachers of English. A TEFL Certificate is the most basic qualification needed to teach English as a foreign language in Malta.

The course will be conducted by Jean Theuma (freelance Teacher Trainer, CELTA and DELTA qualified) who is an experienced teacher trainer and a member of the MATEFL committee. The TEFL Induction course is accredited and regulated by the ELT Council.
The main requirements for the course are that the applicants have a good standard of English – candidates will be required to sit for, and pass, a pre-course language awareness test and a short interview.

The TEFL Certificate Course is a 63-hour preparation course made up of:
·         47 hours face-to-face input, supervised planning and preparation, teaching practice, feedback, guided observation, peer observation and tutorials
·         15 hours of reading and written-research, assignments, lesson preparation
·         5 teaching slots, of which at least 2 will be with bona fide students
·         3 written assignments in language skills, language awareness and professional development
The course includes topics such as:
·         The teaching and learning context
·         Developing classroom management skills
·         Developing language skills
·         Planning lessons
·         Language analysis and feedback techniques

ONLY at GV will you get: at least 2 Teaching Practices with ‘real’ students, min 4 hours of observation of experienced teachers and IWB practice.

Course dates: 2nd October - 3rd November 2017

Course schedule: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays
Course times: 17:00 – 20:30 OR*18:00 till 21:30 - including a 30 min break
* depending on the applicants’ preferences

Course fee: €230.00
Minimum number of trainees in class: 7
Successful participants will need to:pass 2 Teaching Practice sessions, pass all the assignments and attend at least 80% of the course. With this certificate and an A-level in English or a pass in the TELT Exam, you will be qualified to work as an EFL teacher in Malta.
